1. I don't get it. How does Phlash synchronize with my camera?
It doesn't synch because it doesn't need to. Ivan Berger of The New York Times said it best: "Unlike a camera flash, which winks on and off in a thin slice of a second, Phlash pulses repeatedly as long as you hold its button down. That makes it easy to synchronize with the phone's camera." And it also helps you see what you are shooting at night so you compose a better shot. Clever, eh?!
2. Can you show me how to attach Phlash to my phone?
Sure! If you want to see how to hang Phlash off your phone, click here. If you
want to see how to stick Phlash on your phone, click here.
3. Isn't Phlash just a fancy LED flashlight?
Not at all. LED flashlights emit a focused beam of light that's very bright at
the center, but they offer little light outside that narrow area. The light emitting array built into Phlash is unique and specifically
engineered to provide full-frame lighting that's even and color-balanced. No hotspots, no washouts.
4. My phone has a built-in flash, but it's barely works. Will Phlash outperform my built-in flash?
Absolutely. In fact, Phlash is 12 times brighter than most built-in flashes. The
built-in flash on your phone was added by the manufacturer as an afterthought. It isn't designed to provide powerful, even lighting like
Phlash.
5. What is the range of Phlash?
Phlash is designed for the close-up pictures you typically take with a cameraphone.
As such, it provides optimal performance at a distance of one meter. A good rule-of-thumb is that your subject should be no more than two
arm's lengths away.
6. How long will the batteries last?
The included lithium coin-type batteries are designed to provide hundreds of brief
flash cycles before brightness begins to decline. If you routinely hold the Phlash button down for long periods or use it as a personal
flashlight, you may find that the batteries require replacement more frequently.
7. How do I replace the batteries?
It's simple. Just place a paperclip in the hole at the edge of the main button and
gently lift the button out. Note that the button will remain attached to the base plate by a flexible circuit connector. Drop in two new
batteries and press the button back in place!
8. Can you show me before and after pictures taken with my particular cameraphone?
Given the hundreds of different cameraphones on the market, that would be impossible.
However, most cameraphone cameras are made by a handful of companies. As such, you will likely experience a similar result to that depicted
in the photos shown here.
9. What if I don't like Phlash?
We don't want anyone
to be a dissatisfied customer. If you are unhappy with Phlash for any
reason, simply send it back to us in its original salable condition within
15 days.
