The School has a world class reputation for research and provides excellent facilities, including access to major new research centres in Secure Information Technologies, Electronics, Communications and Information Technology and Sonic Arts. A number of modules on the course are closely linked to the research expertise of these centres and evolve and change rapidly to reflect some of the current, emerging and exciting developments in the field. Students opting for either the work placement or study abroad module will be registered on a non-credit bearing module. Whilst the modules do not bear credits, they do require completion of marked activities reflecting on your placement/study abroad or work placement experience.

We regularly travel overseas to meet with students interested in studying at Newcastle University. Many industry-leading companies offer sponsorship and scholarships to our students through the E3 Academy and UK Electronics Skills Foundation . For programmes where you can spenda year on a work placement or studying abroad, you will receive a significant fee reduction for that year.

For part-time students, this will reduce in proportion with the number of courses you are studying. Seminars and workshops enable you to discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller groups. Timetabled learning may fall between 9am and 9pm depending on your courses and tutorials. What will I be doing on the Electronic Engineering and Computer Science course at Aston? You will be learning through a variety of means from conventional lectures and tutorials, to project team and individual work, plant visits, lab work and specialist supervision from consultants working in industry.

Year Abroad And Additional Costs

So not only do you graduate with a degree recognised from a world leading university, you’ll have practical national and international experience plus a wider exposure to life overall. These programmes are designed for international students who do not meet the required academic and English language requirements for direct entry. For International students the tuition fee that is stated on the course webpage and in the prospectus for the first year of study will apply. For international students, we may increase fees for each subsequent year of study but such increases will be no more than 5% above inflation. If you wish to undertake the optional study abroad/placement year, you will take either the Placement Year module or the Study Abroad Year module which both typically run for a full academic year between years 2 and 3 of your course.

  • Visit ourEnglish language requirements page for a full list of accepted tests and qualifications.
  • You don’t need to study any more qualifications after your degree to work towards chartered status.
  • If you would like to explore our full range of degrees before you apply, you can order an undergraduate prospectus at /undergradprospectus.
  • The growth of the electronics industry means demand for new engineers is always high.

The final year includes specialist options and a major individual project, which is often supported by industry. The Direct Entry Application form is to be used by international applicants who wish to apply directly, and only, to Queen’s or who have been asked to provide information in advance of submitting a formal UCAS application. Applications from UK and EU students after this date are, in practice, considered by Queen’s for entry to this course throughout the remainder of the application cycle subject to the availability of places. There are different tuition fee and student financial support arrangements for students from Northern Ireland, those from England, Scotland and Wales , and those from the rest of the European Union.

Skills And Experience

You may be eligible for government finance to help pay for the costs of studying. DMM in an Engineering subject including Further Maths/Further Maths for Engineering Technicians. If you would like to explore our full range of degrees before you apply, you can order an undergraduate prospectus at /undergradprospectus. If you wish to study part-time, apply directly to Edge Hill University at/apply-part-time.

As well as project work and modules in aspects of electronics, programming and communications, Years 1 and 2 will introduce you to mathematics, engineering concepts, electrical engineering, computer programming and management. Combining theory with practical experience, our accredited Electronic and Computer Engineering BEng will prepare you for a career in digital, computing, and communications systems. We work with industry and our accrediting bodies to ensure that you will develop the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Depending on the programme of study, there may be extra costs which are not covered by tuition fees, which students will need to consider when planning their studies. In addition to your degree programme, at Queen’s you can have the opportunity to gain wider life, academic and employability skills. In years 2 and 3, you will need to demonstrate an increasing ability to build upon material delivered in lectures and laboratories through independent reading. Greenwich graduates should be able to think and work independently, analytically and creatively to solve problems. A common first year across Engineering courses results in large lecture groups of 100+ students. However, in order to enhance your learning experience, practical class sizes typically vary from 5 to 30 students depending on the module. Similarly, tutorials operate in the same way as practical sessions with class sizes varying according to the nature of the module being studied. This course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology on behalf of the Engineering Council.

On average, you will have around 20 contact hours a week in year one and two. Combined with coursework and self-study, you may spend over 40 hours a week on your studies. If you successfully complete your presessional course to the required level, you can then progress to your degree course. Open source research is at the heart of our work, and we are active in several open source communities. The code developed under different projects, as well as collected datasets, are made available online.
