​​The module is designed to introduce engineering students to​ ​key areas of financial and legal risk​ ​that engineers should be aware of in​ ​their working environment. The module will draw directly on practical issues of budgeting, raising finance, assessing financial risks and making financial decisions in the context of engineering projects and/or product development. Through a series of parallel running lectures in the two disciplines, the module will provide a working knowledge of the two areas and how they impinge on engineering practice.

That’s about 40 hours of classes and independent study each week during term time. Everyone learns at a different rate, so the number of hours you spend on independent study will be different to other students on your course. Our programme involves group work to allow you to experience the management, coordination and decision-making processes required by engineers.

Computer Science Bsc

Coordinate and execute complex projects (with effective time management, team working, and ethical decision-making) in preparation for technical careers in applied computer and electronic engineering. You will gain the knowledge and skills required for professional roles within computing, engineering and related specialist fields. For example, you could work as a professional engineer in a variety of organisations or start your own business.

Past students have undertaken placements working as a trainee system test engineer at Halliburton, trainee operational analyst at IBM and trainee network operations engineer at BlackBerry in the UK. This professionally accredited course focuses on the engineering and integration of hardware and software systems. The course encourages you to think creatively and independently, and aims to prepare you to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing technological environment. EU students without settled or pre-settled status will normally be charged fees at the ‘International’ rate and will not be eligible for Student Finance England support. If you will not have the equivalent of an A Level in the science subject required, you should apply for the relevant degree with Foundation Year. From global careers in the oil, gas and energy, pharmaceutical, or consumer products sectors, through to marine engineering and offshore engineering.

Microprocessor and Sensor Systems Applications in Engineeringprovides an overview of sensor-centric microcontrollers and microprocessors. The module also explores the different applications of sensor systems such as remote controls, electronic locks, electronic thermometers, keyboard interfaces and electronic tape measures. You will be introduced to sensor types, interfacing considerations and input signals and learn how to design and build a microcontroller/microprocessor and sensor system that addresses a specific application.

Other Courses

This module provides knowledge of the fundamentals of mobile communications and its application to real systems. This module covers the design and analysis of electronic systems used in telecommunications particularly wireless devices. You will receive support from a supervisor who will guide you in terms of how to carry out your research and will provide feedback to you on at least 2 occasions during the write up stage.
